Brief History

Truman Harley was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. He graduated Vanderbilt University with doctorate degrees in history and theology. He taught at the university until the late 1980s when he enrolled at the Temple Baptist Seminary in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

He settled in nearby Hixson, Tennessee. When he was offered the church in Coldwater Creek, Montana, he relocated.

In the early nineties, he and the owner of the White Rose B&B married (Irene Carpenter). They have two adopted children and both love Coldwater Junction and its residents.

Truman and Irene are integral members of the Coldwater Junction community. They enjoy socializing and have many close friends, inside and outside the congregation.

Tru is a soft spoken man with a voice that most people say was made for Hollywood. He has a pleasant southern accent that enhances his genteel image.

His personality is much like his voice, calm and gentle. Truman is a natural listener and offers advice rather than religious lectures. He tends to speak, not preach.
