Nova: LOA Requests

Nova features a quick and easy way to notify everyone that you are taking time off. The feature takes less than 30 seconds and notifies the Game Admins via email. They can then put your time away up on the calendar.

Leave of Absence (LOA)

Maximum of two (2) weeks away from all posting and game activity.

Extended Leave of Absence (ELOA)

More than two (2) weeks away from all posting and game activity.

Active

When returning from an LOA or ELOA, you need to reset your status to Active.

How-To

To set your status to LOA / ELOA or to Active if returning from a LOA or ELOA.

  1. Login to Storm Shelter.
  2. Go to Request LOA (in the Admin Control Panel sub-nav menu on the right or your Dashboard).
  3. Fill out the form via the directions in the screenshot above.
  4. Click Submit.

What it Does

Nova sends the LOA notice to the designated Game Masters who will add the notice to the calendar. Depending on which theme you are using, it may also designate your status by changing the color of the icon next to your character(s)’ name. The Game Masters will also post the information via a News Item so everyone knows who is where.

Players should always check the game calendar before writing a character out of a scene for no-response to tags. If a Player has posted a LOA or ELOA in middle of writing a scene, the GMs will help with moving the character out of the way so the scene can continue or putting the scene on hold if the absence is short.

Posting Schedules

For the interim, use LOA to notify of posting schedules and posting slowdowns. If a Player’s status via their character(s)’ index card shows LOA, then check the LOA Report to see if it is an actual LOA or ongoing schedule or posting slowdown. The LOA Report can be found in the sub-menu on Characters main page and under Reports on your ACP.

How-To Set LOA as Schedule or Slowdown

To set your status to LOA / ELOA or to Active if returning from a LOA or ELOA.

  1. Login to Storm Shelter.
  2. Go to Request LOA (in the Admin Control Panel sub-nav menu on the right or your Dashboard).
  3. Duration: State the duration (Example: Every other Monday, ongoing) or simply.
  4. Reason: Describe the slowdown or schedule (Example: Unavailable on Mondays or Unavailable every other Monday).
  5. Click Submit.
