Alibi Saloon or The Alibi
The Alibi Saloon is located on a rise just across Highway 424 from Coldwater Trail. The buildings that comprise the saloon and hostelry are situated on a slight rise. Cade MacLeod purchased the historic Coldwater Saloon and Hostelry in the 1990s and had it renovated. The Alibi opened its doors as a brew pub / saloon and steakhouse featuring some of the best food west of the Mississippi. Cade also had the bunkhouse renovated and it’s become a popular stop for sports enthusiasts as well as a place to crash for those that overindulge in The Alibi’s alcoholic beverages. Since many people still come into town on horseback, Cade also had the livery restored.
The Alibi features live bands on Thursday, Friday and Saturday including Cade’s band, No Name Band. The band performs a variety of country music and classic rock and has opened for notable performers at various USO sponsored concerts. In class roadhouse tradition, the stage is located inside a floor to ceiling chainlink enclosure. This is not due to a dangerous clientele but so that the musical instruments can be secured during the band’s off nights as well as protecting them in the event the odd brawl does break out.
Along with the best steaks in the region, the menu offers smoked brisket and barbecue. The portions are generous and prepared to perfection. The Alibi offers handcrafted beer and soft drinks as well as the usual array of alcoholic beverages.
The Alibi caters to a casual clientele. Dressing up generally means the blue jeans are clean and there’s no manure on the boots.
